IELTS One Skill Retake

For IRCC Express Entry requirements, check this page. At the time of writing, it states, "We don’t accept the One Skill Retake version of the IELTS General Training test." This may change, and may be available for some immigration programs, such as EMPP, so make sure to check the current information that applies to you.

An OSR score for IELTS Academic is currently accepted by some colleges and universities in Canada and abroad. Make sure you check with each school for their individual admissions policy. A reference list of institutions which may currently accept IELTS OSR can be found here.

If you are not satisfied with your performance on one part of the IELTS Test, instead of taking the whole test again, you will have the option of re-doing one part of the test: reading, writing, listening or speaking. You will be able to take this option only if:

• you completed your full IELTS Test at a Centre that offers One Skill Retake
• your full test is an IELTS on Computer Test
• you sit your One Skill Retake within 60 days of your full IELTS Test

You will then receive a new Test Report Form (TRF) with the retake score substituted for your original score. The TRF will indicate which score is a retake. It will be up to you whether to use the retake or the original TRF, depending on whether or not your new score was better than the original.

IELTS EOR (Enquiry on Results) is generally suggested if you feel that your test was marked low. In other words, you believe that your performance on one or more parts of the test was better than your result indicates. Find more information about requesting an EOR here.

In contrast, if you feel that you received a lower score because you didn't do your best that day on one part of the test, then OSR (One Skill Retake) may be the better option. Make sure to check that the organization to which you are applying accepts IELTS OSR score reports.

It will be possible to request both an EOR and a OSR on the same IELTS Test, but you must request the EOR first. Also, ensure you keep the deadlines in mind. An EOR must be requested within 30 days of your IELTS Test, and an OSR must be taken within 60 days of your IELTS Test.

   2. Complete the ILSC Montreal IELTS OSR Request Form and Payment.

To book IELTS One Skill Retake in Brampton, Scarborough, Toronto or Vancouver, follow these simple steps:

1. Log into your test-taker portal
2. View the results for your previous IELTS Test
3. Click the ‘Retake’ button for the skill you wish to retake.
4. Select the date for your IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) (within 60 days of your original test date) and book your preferred session.
5. Confirm your details and click ‘complete your booking’ to finalize your booking and payment

To transfer or cancel your IELTS OSR test, please follow the same procedure as for a full IELTS Test. The request must be made in writing using the required form. Instructions and link to the form can be found here.

Refund terms depend upon when you cancel (please see chart below) and whether a test taker exception applies.

No refund is provided if the IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) result is not recognized by any given institution, organization, or government body. Please make sure to check if your Recognizing Organization accepts OSR before registering.
