INTRODUCING: IELTS on Computer with Writing on Paper!
ILSC is proud to be one of the first centres in Canada to offer the new IELTS format: Writing on Paper.
If writing comes more naturally than typing for you, our Writing on Paper option offers comfort and speed, so you can take your test with confidence.
If you choose Writing on Paper, you can complete the Writing component of the test with a pen and paper. The test will be taken in a computer lab. During the Listening and Reading sections of the test, you will use your mouse to select your answers or will type your answers. When you come to the Writing section, you will see the questions on your screen, but you will be provided with an answer sheet and a pen to handwrite your responses.
Like IELTS on Computer, this test format features:
- Faster results: Available in 1-5 days
- Book up to 3 days before the test, pending availability
- One Skill Retake eligible

IELTS on Paper Discontinued in April 2026
The IELTS TEST PARTNERS* no longer offer IELTS on Paper after April 2026.
Test takers can now choose IELTS on Computer or IELTS on Computer with Writing on Paper at select venues.
*The IELTS test is jointly owned by British Council, IDP Education Ltd, and Cambridge Assessment English.
IELTS on Computer
This test requires test takers to sit the Reading, Listening and Writing tests in front of a computer in an official IELTS test centre, with the questions presented on the screen. The test takers then submit their answers through the use of a keyboard and a mouse. There are more choices of dates with IELTS on Computer. The Speaking test is either in-person or over video call and is a live face-to-face interview with a trained IELTS examiner.
