IELTS on Paper Discontinued in Canada

IELTS on Paper Update - May 2026
The IELTS TEST PARTNERS* no longer offer IELTS via the paper format in Canada but test takers can still take IELTS on computer. An option to complete the Writing section on paper will be offered at select venues starting July 2026.
ILSC will open IELTS on Computer Testing at multiple venues across Canada.
IELTS on Paper and IELTS on Computer have the same test format, questions and scoring. IELTS on Computer also offers significant benefits to test takers at no additional cost:
- Faster results: Available in 1-5 days
- Faster booking: Book your test up to 3 days before the test (pending availability)
- More frequent test dates, including both weekends and weekdays
- One Skill Retake, only available with IELTS on Computer, allows you to retake just one part of the test – Listening, Speaking, Reading or Writing.

*The IELTS test is jointly owned by British Council, IDP Education Ltd, and Cambridge Assessment English.
IELTS sur ordinateur
This test requires test takers to sit the Reading, Listening and Writing tests in front of a computer in an official IELTS test centre, with the questions presented on the screen. The test takers then submit their answers through the use of a keyboard and a mouse. There are more choices of dates with IELTS on Computer. The Speaking test is either in-person or over video call and is a live face-to-face interview with a trained IELTS examiner.
